Triodos Bank is a founding partner of SEFA and provides significant loan funding to the SEFA Loan Fund. It also shares its experience, intellectual property and resources with SEFA. Founded in the Netherlands in 1980, it is one of the world’s leading social impact finance organisations, operating in five European countries with more than EUR 10.6 billion assets under management.



Community Sector Banking is an active founding partner of SEFA with a genuine commitment to developing social enterprise in Australia. With more than a decade of experience in not-for-profit banking, it provides SEFA with investment funds and extensive expertise in impact investment, social enterprise and the community sector. Full banking services are also offered to SEFA applicants.

The NSW Aboriginal Land Council (NSWALC) is a founding investor in the SEFA Loan Fund. It is the largest member-based Aboriginal organisation in Australia, and the peak representative body in Aboriginal Affairs for NSW. It aims to protect the interests and further the aspirations of its members and the broader Aboriginal community.






Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation is a leading philanthropic organisation and the largest community foundation in Australia. Established in 1923, the Foundation has a long and proud history supporting the community through philanthropy, and today continues this heritage as a contemporary, independent organisation by inspiring philanthropy in Melbourne. In addition to responsive grants programs, the Foundation undertakes initiatives relating to affordable housing, youth employment, sustainable food systems and older women overcoming financial disadvantage.

The Foundation has proudly partnered with SEFA to establish the Affordable Housing Loan Fund. This fund has been established to address the homelessness and affordable housing crisis in Victoria.

Bush Heritage Australia is a non-financial partner of SEFA. Founded in 1991, it is a non-profit conservation organisation dedicated to protecting Australia’s unique animals, plants and their habitats. It buys and manages land of outstanding conservation value, and works in partnership with other landowners. It helps protect native habitats on millions of hectares of the most ecologically important landscapes in Australia.


The Macquarie Group Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Macquarie Group and provides business mentoring to applicants of the SEFA Loan Fund. The Macquarie Group Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Macquarie Group, is one of Australia’s oldest and largest corporate benefactors. It helps strengthen communities through financial support, volunteering and skills sharing. It has contributed more than $A165 million to approximately 1,300 community organisations globally since 1985.


The Entrepreneurship & Innovation Research Group (EIRG) at the University of Sydney Business School developed SEFA’s key performance indicators and metrics to measure our impact. The EIRG is a cross-disciplinary team of researchers that focuses on business innovation and entrepreneurial ventures and people. Members concentrate on entrepreneurship and innovation and how they manifest in the context of new markets, new products, and new business processes.
