Kickstarter | Celebrating Social Business Innovation

Now well into its 7th year the Macquarie Kick Starter programme – funded by the Macquarie Group Foundation – teams up aspiring social entrepreneurs from across the country with associate and divisional directors to mentor them through a business planning process. Turning impactful ideas into sustainable businesses is no easy feat and after 3 months of work the final business plans produced were impressive to say the least.

This month the judging panel had the tough job of assessing those plans and enjoyed a robust discussions over the fine ideas proposed, awarding 3x $A10,000 Macquarie Group Foundation Kickstarter grants to 3 stand out enterprises Xceptional, North and Catalyser.

Mike Tozer | Xceptional Xceptional is a software testing company that provides exceptional software testing services to its customers by employing people with Autism. The company utilises their strengths in pinpointing errors, observing patterns and lateral thinking to offer outstanding testing services in web and mobile for business, government and non-profit client organisations.

Crystal Thomas | North Home  NORTH acknowledges that their business activities take place on Aboriginal land. Aboriginal culture has ancient heritage, today it thrives and has evolved to incorporate new ways of sharing story. re for companies to manage and grow their corporate giving, in-house, with a focus on employee engagement. Catalyser’s  vision is for every employee to be empowered to change the world from their workplace. Their mission is to amplify the scale of resources donated to charities by activating employee giving in the workplace, lifting Australian workplace from 2% to 8% per year and driving up to an additional $260M/year to charities servicing Australian and global communities.
